Since 1991, The Medical Center has presented the Women-in-the-Arts Exhibit that recognizes and honors the work and talent of area women artists. The exhibit held in April each year is open to any female artist over 18 years old residing in Kentucky.
The Women-in-the-Arts Exhibit features artwork in the following categories: painting, sculpture, ceramics, works on paper, fiber works, and photography. Each year, the exhibit committee and a juror select the Special Purchase Award, which is purchased by and displayed at The Medical Center. The juror also selects cash Merit Awards and Honorable Mention Awards. The Special Purchase Award and Merit Awards are displayed for two weeks in the Ervin G. Houchens Gallery at the Capitol Arts Center following the exhibit.
Artists have the option of making their artwork available for sale to the public. Twenty-five percent of each sale will benefit the Capitol Art Center’s Visual Arts program.
